Wimbledon Betting Heats Up - Wimbledon Tennis Betting 2009-Wimbledon 2009 Betting Odds

The opening week of the Wimbledon Championship has been full of excitement and action for the sports betting public, and for tennis fans. While most top seeds have made it through to fight another day, some haven’t been so fortunate...hello Ms. Sharapova.

Heading into the tournament Sharapova had attracted a reasonable amount of betting action, as she is trying to get back on track.Online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com reported the former number one female player in the world received 9% of all the volume bet on the women’s side of the tourney.

The odds have been updated and now things are starting to get very interesting. Roger Federer and Andy Murray are dominating the bettor’s attention on the men’s side. Next in line on the Wimbledon Odds menu is Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick. After those two, there is a big drop down to 25/1 for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and 33/1 for Llewyton Hewitt.

You can check out all the updated Wimbledon Odds

On the ladies side, as you might expect, Venus and Serena Williams are at the top, with Victoria Azarenka and Dinara Safina next.

Can someone upset Roger Federer? There are a few players who can maybe pull it off. Andy Murray being the one real contender who everyone would love to see in a final. He has been backed heavily by those in his homeland (the UK). Are we looking at an all-Williams sister final in this year’s Wimbledon Championship – that’s a distinct possibility.

Keep an eye out for the daily sports betting options for tennis betting on this, the biggest tournament of the year. It is going to be a great final week.

2009 NBA Draft Betting|Basketball Odds|NBA Betting Lines

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers are barely done celebrating their championship win earlier this month, but all NBA teams, including the champs, are now 100% focused on the NBA Draft.

IN case you were wondering, the Lakers are the favorites to win it all again next year, as the NBA future basketball odds already out and getting betting action for the 2009-2010 Championship. LA have odds of +225 at SPORTSBETTING.com to win back-to-back titles. The online books are taking Laker money, as bettors look for the repeat. Bettors are also feeling that Lebron James and his team learned something from their third round exit this year, as the Cavaliers are getting betting volume as well at odds of 4-1.

But I digress….back to the draft.

In the sports betting world, the NFL Draft gets the most attention, as you would expect, when looking at betting volume, but the NBA Draft holds its own for betting action.

Betting on the draft became popular several years ago and the attention the sports betting community pays to it has increased every year.

Online sportsbooks have the odds posted up and a full selection of NBA Draft 2009 Betting.

One interesting draft prop bet offered at SPORTSBETTING.com caught my eye.

It is “Who will go third overall?”

You can put your money down on which player you think will be taken with the third pick. The team holding the third pick right now is the Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly the Seattle Sonics). They’re on the clock after the sadsack LA Clippers go first and the “just as sad” Memphis Grizzlies select second overall.

So who might they take?

In the “you can’t teach height” category is UConn center Hasheem Thabet (7’3” and weighing 267 lbs), who has a great chance. He is being touted as a potential Hakeem Olajuwon type of player. To that, I say hold on, let’s not get carried away. No way this kid becomes an Olajuwon, but he might have a similar career to Dikembe Mutombo.

NBA Odds: Thabeet is currently listed at +250 at the online sportsbook to land as the #3 guy.

Also in the mix is James Harden. Harden averaged 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 steals a game last season for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He’s smooth and will be a decent player. Like Thabeet, he’s currently listed at +250 to be No. 3 overall.

I’d be shocked if the Clippers took anyone other than Oklahoma Sooners power forward Blake Griffin with the first selection (poor kid).

But it really does seem pretty wide-open after that. Adding some foreign flavor to the mix is Spanish point-guard Ricky Rubio, who has a real shot at going in the top three. He would pay out at +250 as well.

The most likely scenario however, based on the basketball odds, is that someone other than Rubio, Harden or Thabeet will go third overall as any other player (Field) would pay out at +150.

Another cool prop play offered by SPORTSBETTING.com is whether or not all four UNC prospects; Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green. Will all be drafted.

The odds are:

Will all four get drafted (+500), three (+100), two (+140), one (+500) or none (+10,000)?

You know it won’t be none and I’m leaning that three will get drafted.

Enjoy the NBA Draft and all the NBA Draft betting.

Federer Wins Wimbledon Opener-Wimbledon 2009-Online Tennis Betting

No Nadal means Roger Federer is a big favorite to win Wimbledon 2009 at the All England Club.

As for Federer’s play Monday at the All England Club? Well, for a few minutes, that did not look quite so good. But only for a few minutes. After trailing by a break in the first set of his first match since winning the French Open to complete a career Grand Slam, Federer righted himself and beat Yen-hsun Lu of Taiwan 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 to take the first step toward a record-breaking 15th major championship overall.

Federer won his opening-round match against Yen-hsun Lu 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 and moves on to the next round.

NFL Betting-Chad Johnson Speaks Up–NFL Odds

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

NFL bettors take note

I’m not sure if you’ve been paying real close attention to the Cincinnati Bengals lately, but they’ve been bad, real bad the last while. No one would blame you if you haven’t thought much about this lightweight from the AFC North division. But if you are into sports betting, you need to be looking at all NFL teams and checking where they’re at compared to the NFL future odds market.

The reason the Bengals are being mentioned at this point before NFL pre-season betting gets going is because one of their problem-children, Chad Ochocinco (yes, that’s Chad Johnson, but he is now known as Chad Ochocinco) stepped up to a microphone and guaranteed his team will make the playoffs.

He might not be getting it done on the football field, but Ochocinco can still entertain. So can they make the playoffs? Can they take a run at the AFC North division title? What about going even further.

The big question from a sports betting viewpoint is whether there is any value in betting on the Bengals considering their NFL odds.

NFL Odds:

Online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com has all the NFL live lines up for pre-season betting on the teams who will win their division, their conference and the Super Bowl. You’d be correct of you guessed the Bengals are not one of the favorites in any of those categories.

AFC Division Odds:

Cincy are currently sitting at +1000 to win the AFC North at most online sportsbooks. That means a $10 bettor would make a $100 if they did win the division.

What about being a real threat to win the Lamar Hunt trophy and thus the AFC?

Not so much. The Bengals are listed at +5000 to win the AFC championship this season.

And of course the odds keep getting steeper as the talk gets crazier about a possible Cincinnati Bengal hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Although that said, how many predicted the Arizona Cardinals would come within a last minute play from winning it all.

Anyway, the NFL betting volume on the Bengals to win the Super Bowl has been low so far this year. They are a +10,000 longshot to win it all.

NFL Betting:

As for who are sports bettors targeting, it’s the usual crew in the AFC: New England is getting a lot of future odd action, with Pittsburgh, the Indianapolis Colts and the San Diego Chargers also riding high with sports bettors.

So back to the question of whether the Bengals offer any value for those who want to get some action going with NFL future betting.

In short, No. This is a tough division with the Steelers and Ravens at the top. Cincinnati won’t be as bad as last year, but even a healthy Carson Palmer won’t be able to move them ahead of the division leaders.

I don’t see how they make the playoffs this season.

There are some great opportunities right now for NFL prop bets and NFL future bets if you are doing your homework and looking for good NFL odds at Online sportsbook.

Good luck and NFL pre-season betting is just around the corner.

Check out SPORTSBETTING.com for their current lines if you’re looking for an online sportsbook.

Betting on Golf – The US Open Tees off in the Rain-Tiger Woods Odds

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

The US Open golfers scrambled today to change flight plans, as it doesn’t look like those who make the cut will be heading anywhere but back to the course on Monday morning. Online sportsbook closed the betting window early Thursday morning for Day 1 of US Open betting, as the first players started their opening rounds. However, no one was destined to spend much time on the course, as rain poured down. Players were called off the course for the day, pushing everything back.

The golf odds that were put up heading into the big tournament obviously had Tiger Woods as the huge betting favorite, with Phil Mickelson number two. The sports betting world are anticipating a duel between the World’s #1 and #2 ranked players, and it still might develop. Neither player has had the chance to get going. Tiger is sitting at +1 after completing six holes and like most players I’m sure, was wishing he had an afternoon tee time and didn’t have to play in the rough weather conditions.

SPORTSBETTING.com oddsmakers stated that they took in a lot of Tiger Golf Betting action, as usual, but there was good steady volume on Mickelson to win the tournament as well. Late money also came in on Sergio Garcia and US standout Anthony Kim at the sportsbook.

Tiger Woods Odds: Tiger started to the tournament as a huge favorite to win it all at SPORTSBETTING.com. He was also -425 in his head-to-head matchup with Mickelson. The only two players that oddsmakers would put Tiger up against in matchups was Mickelson and Geoff Ogilvy.

Phil has yet to tee off, but will do so Friday morning.

More of the same, weather-wise, is expected over the next four days, which will almost assuredly result in the tournament being pushed into Monday and perhaps even Tuesday.

Playoffs aside, no US Open in 108 years has gone past a Monday morning finish. The odds are it will happen this year.

Tiger Woods, trying to defend his title, didn’t start the way he would have liked. His first tee shot was an ugly duck hook. But after missing the fairway WAY left, as he so often does, he saved par.

The US Open is just getting started. You can check SPORTSBETTING.com for all the updated golf odds and golf betting options throughout the tournament.

Enjoy the golf.

Wimbledon Tennis Betting Guide–Tennis Betting-Wimbledon Betting

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

The 2009 Wimbledon Tournament is quickly approaching, with all eyes on Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The sports betting community, those who wager on tennis (a growing segment), are just getting over a very exciting French Open.

Federer won the French, playing on clay, a surface that he hasn’t been able to dominate. Sports bettors were heavy on both Nadal and Federer in the French at online sportsbook, and obviously those who backed Federer were very happy with the result.

Nadal, who loves the clay courts, suffered an injury and wasn’t able to deliver on the clash everyone wanted to see between the top two players in the world. His absence also helped clear a path to the title for Federer.

SPORTSBETTING.com reported that more betting volume came in on Nadal then did on Federer, but the same isn’t the case at Wimbledon. Federer isn’t known as the “King of Wimbledon” for nothing. And the sports betting world is banking on him grabbing his 6th Wimbledon crown. Roger is only one Grand Slam win away from passing Pete Sampras to grab the record for the most men's Grand Slams in history and what better way to accomplish that then on the beautiful green grass at Wimbledon.

Online sportsbooks, like SPORTSBETTING.com, are reporting steady betting volume on Federer, who currently has odds on him of 2-3, making him a big favorite to win the crown.

Nadal isn’t the second biggest favorite in this tournament. That distinction belongs to Brit Andy Murray. Just imagine the pressure on this youngster, as he plays in front of the “local” crowd. He is hoping to improve on last year’s quarter-final showing. Murray has been getting solid interest from sports bettors at the online sportsbooks, and his current odds are 3-1.

Then comes Nadal at 7-2 Wimbledon odds. Nadal bettors still have fresh in their memory the brilliant win in 2008, in a victory over Federer that some experts call the greatest match of all time.

Can he pull off another big win? We’ll see when everything gets going.

Here are a few:

Wimbledon Odds – Wimbledon Betting Odds

Andy Roddick 18 - 1
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 15 - 1

Andy Murray 3 – 1

Good luck with your Wimbledon Tennis Betting and enjoy the tournament.

US Open Free Contest - Win Free Cash by picking winners in this year’s US Open-Golf Odds

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

I was checking out the US Open Golf odds at a few online sportsbooks to put in a few US Open bets, as I always do for my favorite major of the year, when I noticed a new US Open contest was up.

The SPORTSBETTING.com “US Open Pick The Winners” caught my eye. I like playing US Open matchups when I bet on golf, picking who I think will be the winner of a particular matchup.

That’s how this contest is setup, as you get to pick the winner of a group of matchups.

Here’s the copy from the contest, explaining the details:

US Open Pick The Winners Contest

Tee it up with SPORTSBETTING.com at this year’s US Open Championship and you can win a free $50.00 just for picking matchup winners.

Add to the excitement of one of the biggest golf events of the year by playing the “US Open Pick The Winners” contest.

It’s free to play and it’s easy.

All you need to do to win the free $50.00 is pick the winning golfer in each of the listed matchups (see below). If you go 5-for-5 you win the free cash.

Here are the matchups:

Phil Mickelson

Tiger Woods

Jim Furyk

Geoff Ogilvy

Sergio Garcia

Padraig Harrington

Vijay Singh

Ernie Els

Anthony Kim

Justin Leonard

You can enter your contest picks here

**********************************

I’m looking at taking Tiger Woods over Lefty, as would most people. Tiger has looked very good heading into this tournament, while Phil has been dealing with some real tough news regarding the news that his wife was recently diagnosed with cancer. It’s great Phil is playing, but I don’t see him keeping up with Tiger.

I also like Geoff Ogilvy to win his US Open matchup over Jim Furyk. This is the kind of course that sets up well for Ogilvy’s game and he is one of the best ball strikers in the world. He has proven he can win big tournaments and excels on the greens.

I’m playing Ogilvy.

I’m also going to play Anthony Kim over Justin Leonard. Kim is one of the best players in the world and set to have a big tourney. I like him in this matchup.

I’ll handicap the other contest matchups out tomorrow as I get ready to put in my picks and take a shot at the free US Open contest cash.

US Open Betting:

I’m also looking at betting a couple of matchups. Looking at the list of US Open Golf Betting matchups at the online sportsbook, I like Lee Westwood at +125 over Ian Poulter. The sports betting community are all over Tiger Woods in his matchups, so I’m staying away from that one and trying to find value elsewhere.

I also like Zach Johnson to beat Carmen Villegas. The betting odds on Johnson are even money.

Take a look at all the US Open odds and fun prop bets, including the matchup bets.

Plus take a shot at the free $50 cash for picking matchup winners in the SPORTSBETTING.com “US Open Pick The Winner’s Contest”

Good luck.

NHL Hockey Betting - Seventh Hell For The Pittsburgh Penguins? Stanley Cup final

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

The Pittsburgh Penguins forced a seventh and deciding game in the Stanley Cup final by virtue of a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings last night–the Pens cashed in at -130 and the Total went Under 5.5.

History is not on the Penguins’ side, as the last time a road team won a championship Game 7 in the MLB, NBA or NHL was back in 1979 when the Pittsburgh Pirates, ironically enough, won the World Series in Baltimore.

Home teams have gone 18-0 in championship Game 7s.

Pittsburgh is +170 and Detroit is -200, the Total is set at 5.5.

NBA Betting -Fantastic Game Four – NBA Finals - Orlando Magic vs Los Angeles Lakers

It will be an important game in the NBA finals as the Orlando Magic can pull even with the Los Angeles Lakers with a win or fall behind 3-1 in the series.

The Magic have been anything but the last 17 times the Lakers have visited going 6-11 ATS–Orlando is a 2-point home fave tonight.

Tonight’s Total is set at 201 and in the Lakers’ last 17 visits, the Over/Under has gone 5-12, including 6-0 in the last six games.

NBA Betting – Game 4 Preview - Lakers vs Magic

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

You knew it was coming...the Orlando Magic were going to start hitting their shots at some point, and it happened in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

The sports betting public who backed the Lakers in Game 2 and again in Game 3 got stung, as the NBA Betting lines were such that they didn’t cover the pointspread in Game 2, and pushed on the pointspread in Game 3.

After the sports betting action on the Over/Under was tilted to the “Over” in the first two games in LA, bettors came back in Game 3 expecting an “Under”, as reported by online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com. For them, 60% of the wagering action on the Total was on the “Under” in Game 3.

In the first two games, SPORTSBETTING.com saw 75% and 70%, respectively, betting action on the “Over” for Game 1 and Game 2. Both games went “Under” the total, while Game 3 hit for the “Over”.

So what happened in Game 3...the Magic lit it up that’s what. They set an NBA Finals record by shooting 75% in the first half (that’s right 75%) and finished the game with an huge 62.5% from the field.

Their guards finally contributed, as Rafer Alston and Mickael Pietrus combined for 38 points a big step up for them.

Howard went 5-6 in Game 3, doing his part.

So what are we looking at for Game 4 for sports bettors.

The Lakers have made a point of focusing on Dwight Howard, obviously intent on not letting him be the one of who beats them down low. And he won’t in Game 4 either, but if his teammates can hit their shots, it is going to be another loss for LA.

Orlando was bad in Game 1 all around, but Game 2 saw Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis step to the front and almost steal them a win on the road and give the sports betting community a moneyline win for the visitor.

The Lakers struggled to stop anyone in Game 3...but they still had a chance to win it all at the end.

Congrats to the Magic for winning what could be termed the biggest game in their history. Can they repeat in what is now the next biggest game in their history.

The NBA Betting odds on Game 4 at SPORTSBETTING.com is Orlando -2.5.

Clearly, we have to expect the Magic to cool off for this game, but I don’t think they’re going to go cold. They can’t, otherwise the Lakers will run away from them. LA is averaging 101.7 points per game.

LA is going to make defensive adjustments, but they still can’t focus too much attention on the guards, otherwise Howard will have room. But I don’t think they’ll make any big adjustments, just tweaking. I think Coach Jackson is pretty happy with the way the team has played, overall, and has to feel like they can beat them playing pretty much the same type of game.

Don’t expect the Magic to shoot the lights out and don’t expect Kobe to struggle as much in the second half in Game 4. A good idea for LA will be to feed the inside guys early, get Gasol and Bynum banging around and keep Bryant fresh so he can hit shots down the stretch. This is the strategy that has worked all post-season.

And expect the Lakers to do a much better job at the free throw line, which will make a big difference.

The Lakers haven't lost two straight yet this postseason and I like them to get this win. More importantly, as a sports bettor, I’m putting my money on the Lakers as a small road dog, laying the 2.5 points.

If you’re looking for a top online sportsbook, check out SPORTSBETTING.com. Free, fast payouts and they’ve been around forever.

Good luck with all your plays and enjoy the games.

NHL Hockey Betting - Conn Smythe Betting Update

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

While all the Conn Smythe trophy talk (playoff MVP) prior to the start of the Stanley Cup finals centered around Detroit Red Wing netminder Chris Osgood, the odds have changed somewhat.

Osgood has struggled in a few games and that has allowed other players to enter the fray.

Osgood is still a favorite at -200 to take the Conn Smythe but teammate Henrik Zetterberg has seen his odds steepen and is close behind at -150.

NFL Season Win Totals - NFL Future Odds Betting – Bet on NFL

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

June 8 - Early projections for NFL teams are reflected in the opening online sportsbook for Season Win Totals. Compare your picks and see how the numbers stack up. Some of the NFL Future odds may surprise you.

- For many NFL bettors the football season never really ends. When it comes to sports betting, the NFL has done a fantastic job becoming a year-round point of interest for its fans and as far as football betting goes, that extra bit of offseason handicapping homework can be the difference between ‘good’ and ‘great’ results when the action is for real come pre-season NFL betting season.

Super Bowl future odds were the first odds posted at SPORTSBETTING.com for the upcoming 2009 football season and after the schedule was released it wasn’t long before the sportsbooks started working out lines for the very popular Season Win Totals (SWT) future odds option.

Early NFL Lines posted and totals for a lot of NFL teams look a lot different than they did last year at this time. Free agency changes the landscape annually so it’s only natural for the numbers on expected wins to change, too, and we’ve sorted through the list, compared numbers from 2008 and highlighted some spots for potential value.

NFL Odds – Season Win Totals

All odds courtesy SPORTSBETTING.com

QB elevator, going up!

Chicago Bears: Over 8.5 (-160)

The new and improved QB situation in the Windy City has boosted the number on the Bears by one full game. Chicago did win nine games in `08, too, so if Jay Cutler cannot at least match that number he will take a lot of heat.

Getting no respect

Arizona: Over 8.5 (-125)

The Rodney Dangerfields of the league, Arizona slipped under the radar all year, was doubted throughout the playoffs and then nearly upset Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl yet its “Season Win Total” number is up by only a half-game.

Jump of the year

Atlanta Falcons: Over 8 (-135)

The Falcs “Season Win Total” number closed at 4.5 last year and with a new HC, a rookie QB and a whole lot of bad press stemming from Mike Vick the team rallied to a playoff berth. Minus the Vick part that sounds an awful lot like the Baltimore Ravens (Over 8.5 -160) story but Baltimore saw only a modest increase. Are the Falcons destined to fail?

There are a few sports betting favorites that are always hyped up and see plenty of action no matter what the line. That can lead to inflated pointspreads and win totals are no exception. The Dallas Cowboy (Over 9 -115) are a prime example and although the number could already be too high, if you’re going to buy you may as well get in now since it’ll only go up.

Here’s a look at a few other candidates that are likely to increase by September.

Indianapolis Colts: Over 10 (-120)

The last time Indy finished a season with less than double-digits wins was 2001. Peyton Manning led the team on the field through that seven-year stretch of greatness and he’ll be ready again this year. The difference now is no more Tony Dungy.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Over 10.5 (-115)

Any team that wins the Super Bowl will see its stock rise the following season and Pittsburgh SWT has followed suit. Up 1.5 from `08, one thing bettors should be aware of is that of 12 regular season wins last year for the Steelers, six of them were by a TD or less.

Honorable Mention

Detroit Lions: Under 5 (-130)

Quite possibly the biggest head scratcher of the lot. Somebody in Las Vegas must know a secret about the Leos because last we checked Detroit hadn’t won since Week 16… of 2007! In a division that’s only getting tougher it is hard to envision a rookie coach-rookie QB combo generating six-plus wins.

‘Futures’ betting is one of the best ways for sports bettors to get a bang for their buck since it essentially places a small chunk of action on each game of the season. It does tie up the money right until the final whistle in Week 17 but as long as bettors don’t over-spend, those funds won’t be missed.

NBA Finals: Game 2 Odds

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

Kobe Bryant, playing like a man possessed, scored 40 points and the Los Angeles Lakers pounded the Orlando Magic 100-75 in Game 1 on Thursday night.

It was the 10th time he has scored 40 or more in the NBA betting playoffs.

Game 2 is Sunday night at Staples Center where celebrities had front-row seats to see another amazing performance by Bryant, who scored 18 points in the third quarter as the Lakers opened a 26-point lead and embarrassed the Magic.

The Magic, who went 2-0 against the Lakers in the regular season, appeared a touch overwhelmed in their first Finals appearance since 1995.

Bet Football Online:More NFL Rookies

Posted by Jimmy Johnson

In my last article, I pointed out a handful of rookies I felt could be considered “under the radar” types, but will have opportunities for a big impact. Today I’m going to follow up with another group of rookies who are worth paying attention to as we head to our fantasy drafts.

I’ve mentioned in other columns that I love sports betting as much as I do fantasy football. I was checking some notes from last year regarding NFL Future Odds on “Rookie of the Year” betting and saw that QB Matt Ryan was at 25-1 at SPORTSBETTING.com early in the summer, but after being announced as the starter, the sports betting community jumped on him and brought his odds down to the 10-1 NFL odds range. He went on to win the Rookie of the Year award and cash in for all those who bet on him.

As we get closer to the season starting, I’ll have a column on who I think offer some value for sports bettors when looking over the NFL Odds for Rookie of the Year.

Let’s look at today’s list:

The Jury’s Out

Yes, these next guys were properly hyped. But I’m not convinced the situation they find themselves in will reward Fantasy owners this season.

Michael Crabtree

WR – San Francisco 49ers

Skinny: Crabtree is regarded by most as the best wideouts in the draft (hey Al, I’ll give that scouting tip to you gratis) but the 49er offensive identity is in transition this year. They just don’t have a QB or a secondary pass-catcher to give Crabtree much chance for success. I predict 50 Catches, 600 yards, 4 TDs.

Darrius Heyward-Bey

WR – Oakland Raiders

Skinny: HeyBey plays for the Raiders. ‘Nuff said. JaMarcus has a cannon, that’s for sure but I see Jeff Garcia starting by mid-season and HeyBey’s speed won’t help that much on 12-yard outs.

Hakeem Nicks

WR – NY Giants

Skinny: I haven’t seen much of Nicks in action, but he ostensibly comes into a situation where he’s expected to replace Plaxico Burress, and I simply don’t see him doing that year one, if ever. Teams figured out the Giants offense with Plax gone, and now that they are minus Derrick Ward, I don’t see much success for them this year. Eli will go back to looking like Eli.

Shonn Green

RB – NY Jets

Skinny: I am basing this recommendation on two things only: Thomas Jones’ age and contract status. Jones is 31 and in the final year of his contract, and the Jets desperately don’t want to pay an aging RB the kind of money he’s expecting. They are better off spending it on a free agent WR next year (or mid season, right Plax?). I fully expect them to give Shonn Green a healthy workload to see if he can fill Jones’ role in the offense in front of speedy Leon Washington.
